Big win against Crewe

Chester U16’s Girls have again this season embarked upon another National Cup with the prospect of facing two sides that they hadn’t played before and one old foe.
Firstly, they had the long trip to Cumbria to face Penrith, a new and young team that Chester hadn’t played before. The away team started off at an electrifying pace and were soon in a comfortable lead and never looked back, to ease to a comfortable victory.

Another Cumbrian team awaited in the second group game. This time Keswick had to travel to play on the infamous “travelator”. Once again Chester made a flying start and although the opposition made the girls work hard they led throughout and in the end, eased to a comfortable victory.

The final group game was against old foe Liverpool StHelens, whom Chester had never beaten at this age group. Chester started well and led for the majority of the ‘to and fro’ game. Unfortunate injuries to key personnel at key moments meant players having to play out of position. With the game entering the final stages an individual try took the game away from Chester with the game finishing 43 - 45.

Chester, now in the Regional Cup, made the short journey to Crewe & Nantwich for the start of the knockout stages. An interesting tie as many of the girls (from both) sides form the Cheshire DPP and know each other quite well. No quarter was given nor asked after a tremendous effort the girls beat Crewe 34-10 in the regional semi-final and will face Blaydon on 3rd march in the regional final of the U16 girls cup.
