It’s been a brilliant start to the season for the JC’s. Seeded in the A league, Waterloo were first up at home, a hard-fought game ending with a 10-5 home win.
Lymm, our old adversary, was next on the fixture list, an equally tough game, but we soaked up the pressure and secured a 7-26 victory. Whitchurch at home almost served as a wake-up call for how challenging the A league can be, with the team surrendering a comfortable half-time lead, going into the break tied at 19-19. However, the lads rallied superbly in the second half, resulting in a 33-19 win.
In the game versus Stockport, first in the league, it was a game of two halves. They provided possibly our sternest test yet, but our defence was incredible. We sealed victory with a last-minute penalty to win 22-17.
Finally, we secured a hard-fought 6-6 draw against a strong Liverpool Collegiate side.
Five games in, unbeaten, and top of the league! Defensively, we’ve been superb, and each game has presented challenges that we’ve overcome. The Pathway has been a massive success for the squad, with fantastic support from all the coaches and some very talented U16s playing up. The future looks bright!
