An encouraging start to the 2019/20 season for the 2nd XV on Saturday at Hare Lane.
It was disappointing that the opposition were unable to field a front row meaning uncontested scrums were in use throughout the game. This is always a little unstatisfactory and for it to be the case on the first League Saturday of the season must be concerning for the visitors.
As it was, it didn't seem to phase the team as, after a couple of early scores and a relaxation of effort, the screw was turned in the 2nd half and tries came at frequent intervals. James Preston's elusive running and good support lines resulted in 4 tries and there were hat-tricks for the free running back row partners, Oli Buckley and George Baxter. Other scores came from Phil Turnbull Biscay, Morgan Whale and Dominick Duggan.
Conversions were landed by Alex Lloyd, Dylan Westoby and Nick Dwyer.
