Saturday 15th September sees the visit to Fortress Hare Lane of Leicester Lions. The team from TMDP Park in Blaby celebrated the opening of their new clubhouse prior to last weeks game with local rivals South Leicester. The party atmosphere couldn’t however translate to the pitch and the Lions suffered a second defeat of the season. In fact, the Lions haven’t won a competitive league fixture since March 10th. A run of seven successive defeats, including a 34-5 loss at Chester, dragged the side into the relegation quagmire in National League 2 North last season. In the end, their pre-Christmas form had provided just enough points to keep them safe. That form included an away win at Macclesfield and a convincing win at home against Chester.
Coach Andy Key will be hoping his team can shake off the early season malaise and record a first win of the season.
In contrast, Colin’s boys should be full of confidence after two opening victories, delivered in contrasting fashion. A good old free running tryfest against Hoppers followed by a grunt fest in the wet away at Macclesfield. The backs will look back fondly on the first, but have no idea what happened in the second. Just as it always has been. A huge positive has been the boot of Josh Morris, bringing some consistency to a department where we’ve struggled recently.
Kick off on Saturday is 3pm.
