Club Wide Roles

Dear Members,

As the summer approaches and we reflect on a fantastic season – we are starting to put in place plans for next year to make the experience for all at Chester RUFC even better.

Chester Rugby boasts over 900 members, with our young players and their families throughout our M&J’s section through to all the senior sides, the Relics, our loyal supporters and of course the VP’s. We're proud of our breadth of rugby being enjoyed, our financial stability and our superb facilities.

But here's the secret to our success: our incredible volunteers! With a minute staff, we rely heavily on their dedication. They coach players, manage teams, handle car park duties, officiate games, run the club and work tirelessly behind the scenes.

As we keep growing, we need your help more than ever! We have several exciting volunteer opportunities available, offering a chance to give back to this amazing club. As the dust settles on this last season and we look forward to celebrating our centenary next season here are a few ways you can potentially get involved.

Club wide roles:

  • Match Day Programme Compositor / Editor: Help put together our match day program by gathering articles, information, photos, and sponsor ads. You'll arrange them for printing and send a digital version to our marketing agency for distribution.
  • Car Boot Sales Coordinator / Organiser: Do you have a knack for organisation and enjoy the buzz of a successful event? Take the lead on coordinating our car boot sales. This includes confirming dates, securing licenses, arranging skips, toilets, and a drinks unit. You'll also delegate tasks to ensure each sale runs smoothly and safely.
  • Match Day Operations Coordinator: Are you a communication whiz with an eye for detail? Oversee a dedicated WhatsApp group to keep everyone informed about upcoming games across the senior club. Share details like team line-ups, kick-off times, any cancellations, and changes in catering requirements. This ensures everyone involved, from referees to caterers, is on the same page.
  • Match Day Scores Coordinator: Do you have a finger on the pulse of the game and enjoy sharing updates? Gather scores from all senior games (1st, 2nd, 3rd XV, Devas) via WhatsApp and post them on our social media platforms (website and Facebook) by the end of the matchday. Strong coordination skills and basic social media knowledge are a plus!
  • Editor for ‘In Touch’ – CRUFC newsletter: Are you passionate about storytelling and keeping our club community connected? Take charge of producing our club newsletter, "In Touch," which comes out 6-8 times a season. You'll curate information, stories, and images from all corners of the club, edit content, and send out the newsletter using our user-friendly ‘LoveAdmin’ template. Training and support are provided.
  • Social Media Assistant: Do you have a creative flair and enjoy engaging online audiences? Join our existing social media team and help us create exciting content. Share team news, upcoming fixtures, club announcements and more across our various social channels.
  • Website Master (PC): Are you reasonably tech-savvy and enjoy keeping information up-to-date? Maintain our website by ensuring all information is current. We use an easy-to-use template, and training is provided to get you started.
  • M&J Roles: These crucial positions are dedicated to fostering a safe and thriving environment for our mini and junior players (under 5s to colts).
  • M&J ‘Rugbysafe’ Lead: Player safety is paramount! Take a lead role in promoting a proactive approach to player welfare within the M&J section. You'll ensure best practices are followed to minimise risks and create a safe playing environment for all our youngsters.
  • M&J’s Treasurer: Do you have a financial mind and a passion for ensuring smooth operations? Manage the M&J's finances, contributing to strategic planning and financial policy reviews. Your expertise will help us ensure the M&J section has the resources it needs to flourish.
  • Coach Education Coordinator: Are you passionate about developing future rugby stars? Identify and support potential coaches within the M&J section. This role involves ensuring each team has adequate coaching staff and providing them with the resources and training they need to succeed.
  • M&J Equipment Manager: Do you have a knack for organisation and keeping things in top shape? Manage the equipment budget for the M&J section, ensuring all teams have the necessary kit for training and matches. You'll maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment and be responsible for purchasing new items as needed.

Looking to lend a hand in the Squash Club? We need help with painting and replacing tiles in the changing rooms.

If you're interested in learning more about any of these opportunities (no obligation!), simply reply to this email or reach out to Ian Wilson (mjchair@chester-rufc.com) or Dave Maloney (chair@chester-rufc.com).

Together, we can keep Chester Rugby a thriving club for everyone!

Yours in Rugby
