We are officially into Spring, it’s warming up and the pitches are drying out – we hope! Exciting times are ahead when the mini’s festival season starts!!

The festival season is seen as a fitting finale to the rugby season. This is when all the hard work that’s taken place behind the scenes comes together and we bring multiple teams to one location to celebrate the sport with healthy competitive and good fun.

There is no underestimating the work that goes into organising a successful event like this. Health and safety assessments, venue suitability, pitch availability, parking, food, entertainment and publicity and then there are the many volunteers, coordinators and referees to find to ensure the successful running of the day.

All those who have attended one of these events confirm that this combination makes for a real sense of occasion and an amazing atmosphere! The kids gain massively from coming together to have fun whilst developing though teamwork skills, gaining resilience, developing friendships and of course making memories.

In the coming months, the Mini and Junior Section will represent Chester Rugby Club at numerous events throughout the Northwest, from Whitchurch to Kirkby Lonsdale and the Defender Cup hosted by Sale Sharks. With large squad numbers, we expect a large representation from all age groups.

At Hare Lane, the M&J and Girls section will host several touring sides from teams across the county, facilitated through this year’s M&J tour provider, Sky High Sports. The U9s are hosting a side from Heaton Moor RFC on the 22nd of April, where the squad are also the first team mascots.

Chester Rugby Club is again delivering on its part regarding Cheshire Festivals – we are hosting the Under 9’s age group tournament which is being held on the 26th March at Hare Lane with over 15 clubs already registering an interest to take part. Chester has been proud to host the Cheshire Under 9’s festival for the best part of 20 years. Many other clubs in Cheshire are hosting the tournaments for different age groups.

Chester RUFC are thrilled to host the Cheshire Under 9’s tournament again and look forward to welcoming players and supporters from right across the county. Please support in any way you can and hope you and your families have an amazing time!!
