From 19th April we will be implementing a brand-new junior coaching start-up. In the past Chester RUFC Squash has had a great history of bringing junior players into the senior teams and on to represent Cheshire at county level. With time we are aiming to emulate and build on the achievements of the past.

Coaching will be led by the father and son team of Mike and Sonny Kaye, although over time we would hope to get as many parents and other players interested in supporting this initiative.

Mike has been coaching for many years, most recently in Shropshire. He is currently in the process of qualifying for his advanced Level 3 England Squash Certification to coach elite and high-performance players. A previous county U19 member, Mike has worked with players at various levels and abilities.

Sonny is currently a Level 1 England Squash Certified coach of 2 years. He has a list of junior honours to his name and is currently ranked #4 for his U19 age group in Cheshire.

Junior Coaching will initially operate between 9am and 12pm on Saturday mornings, with slots from 45-60 mins. All ages between 6 and 19 are welcome. All abilities are welcome. All initial introductory sessions will be free of charge.

Early years coaching will place a big emphasis on the basics of the game as well as racket grip, movement and building coordination.

Higher abilities will receive more targeted technical and tactical instruction as they progress. Coaching will encourage curiosity and fun at all levels.

Player well-being and safety will be paramount. Safety eye protection will be provided for all juniors, as well as the use of rackets and balls.
