Chester RUFC 2nd XV – Season 2025/26 So Far

The season so far has had many take away positives. The highlight at home for me was against a strong Preston Grasshoppers side. A nail-biting contest that showcased our resilience. After a hard-fought defensive second half, we held firm and stopped Preston’s admirable last-play attack by holding a try-winning tackle over the line to secure a narrow, memorable win.

One of the toughest away fixtures on the calendar is Fylde away, but the team delivered an outstanding performance. We executed our shape brilliantly, nullifying any attack that they presented, coming away with a well-earned win.

Our most recent game was at home to Rossendale. The team, although not given the best opposition, took the chances presented and stuck to our game. A dominant display from start to finish, resulting in a convincing 52-0 victory. While the result was impressive, we recognise there’s still work to do on our attacking structure as we prepare to face the undefeated Caldy 2nd XV in two weeks.

The team is really starting to gel together as we welcome new players into the squad and young talent is rising up. It’s also a testament to the level we are playing as the number of players we have had getting the call-up to put on a 1XV jersey. The rest of the season is exciting as the squad is building momentum and confidence for the challenges ahead.
