Chester travel to the Land of Green Ginger on Saturday 30th April for the final match of the 2021/22 season. Brantingham Park is the home of Hull Ionians, now the 2nd most successful Union team on Humberside. No doubt their loss last Saturday against local rivals Hull, which confirmed the National 2 North title, would have stung a bit.
This match tops and tails the season as Ionians were the visitors to Hare Lane for the opening match of this season. On that day, they ran out 14-29 victors with scores from Tom Holloway and Iwan Phillips not enough for the home side.
Today marks the last appearance for ex-skipper Guy Ford before he finally hangs up his playing boots and joins Jan's coaching team. Go well, Fordy!
