It is with heavy hearts we advise that our great friend Damon Curtis passed away last week. Damon loved Chester Rugby Club and was ever-present over many years. He coached the (now) U15s from Mini level and was the head coach for a number of years. Damon was incredibly generous with his time, and his enthusiasm and dedication to the club were second to none. Damon was passionate that rugby should be a game for all levels of skill, and his approach helped to craft strong bonds within the U15 team and coaching staff. He will be sorely missed as both coach and a clubman. He could generally be found on the training pitch (in white boots and ill-fitting kit) or in the bar – handing out smiles and opinions in equal measure, and his distinctive guffaw could be heard from one end of the bar to the other. Our thoughts go out to his family, especially his daughter Bethan and son Sam. As ever, the rugby community will come together to offer whatever support we can at this time.
