Important announcement from Jan Van Deventer

“After a long Covid lay off we have decided to announce the 1st XV captain and vice before pre-season. Harry Wilkinson will Captain the side and Harrison Vare will take the vice captain role.

Both have come through the club’s junior section and are well known around the club.

Their talent and commitment to training and playing throughout the last couple of seasons has put them to the forefront. They are both natural leaders and have got a great attitude of train hard and play hard.

I know they will represent the club well in their new roles and take the team forward.”

Here’s what Harry has to say about his appointment:

“I have played rugby at Chester for a large part of my rugby playing years and have enjoyed every single one of them. When I was asked to be captain for the coming season I saw it as a great opportunity and I accepted instantly. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with a great bunch of lads and seeing how far we can push ourselves as a team.”

Haz was equally upbeat about becoming VC.

“I am delighted and honoured to accept the vice captaincy role.

I have been at Chester for my entire rugby career and the club has become a big part of my life, on and off the pitch.

I look forward to taking a leading role next season and hope we can come together collectively as a team and a club, and build for what looks to be a very bright future for Chester Rugby Club.”
Final word from Jan:
"To complete the picture, Guy Ford and Mike Craven have been added to the coaching team, and it’s great to have four guys who are Chester through and through in pivotal positions within the senior squad.
To get the ball rolling we will be playing touch at the club on Tuesdays throughout June, starting tomorrow at 7.00 pm, so I look forward to seeing you guys running around with a ball again!”
